At the same time, these Field Trials are a well chosen opportunity to see our dogs in a different way.
Different types of Field Trials are discussed below
Quête à la Française Solo or Couple Field Trials
These Field Trials are organized in spring time and autumn. In this type of Trial it is the intention that a dog is systematically searching the open fields.
In a Solo Field Trial always runs one dog at the time.
In Couple Field Trials two dogs are running at the same time, each of them independently searching without disturbing each other.
The dogs are running in the style of their breed. The four breeds of British Pointing Dogs: The Pointer, The English Setter, The Gordon Setter and The Irish Setter, all have their own typical style of hunting.
Spring Field Trials are always trials before the shot. There won't be any wild shooting. The handler uses an alarm gun.
In autumn we know two forms of trials: trials before the shot as well as trials after the shot. Which means that in case of trials after the shot, game is being shot indeed and the dog has to retrieve the bird that was shot by the huntsman.
Youth trial
The natural ability of the young dogs is being judged.Novice trial
A trial for dogs that are not yet ready yet to participate in the open class.
Boss and dog are looking together over the open fields
Together with your dog enjoying the play of the wind.
Being busy with your dog in nature, that's what makes field work so beautiful.
